Welcome Tripoli Romania - Tripoli's Newest Prefecture

Published on 2/25/2026
The Tripoli Rocketry Association is proud to announce the approval of the Aeronautical Society 2Space – Tripoli Romania Prefecture, marking an exciting expansion of Tripoli’s international community into Eastern Europe.

Based in Bucharest at the POLITEHNICA University CAMPUS Research Institute, Tripoli Romania becomes the first Tripoli prefecture in the region, opening new opportunities for students, researchers, and hobbyists to participate in Tripoli-sanctioned launches and pursue Level 1 and Level 2 certifications closer to home. The new prefecture will serve not only Romania, but also neighboring countries where access to organized high-power rocketry has previously been limited.

The prefecture is led by Prefect Catalin Chelmus, TRA #25951 (L2), supported by Secretary Stefan Ursache, TRA #26986 (L2), and an accomplished team deeply involved in academic rocketry, international competition programs, and aerospace education initiatives.

Tripoli Romania plans to host regular certification launches, technical workshops, and university-supported flight activities while building a strong regional hub for safe, responsible experimental rocketry. Planned outreach efforts and upcoming aerospace events beginning in 2026 are expected to further strengthen collaboration across the Eastern European rocketry community.

The establishment of Tripoli Romania represents an important milestone for both the association and the growing international membership dedicated to advancing rocketry education, innovation, and safety worldwide.

Please join us in welcoming the Aeronautical Society 2Space – Tripoli Romania Prefecture to the Tripoli Rocketry Association.
